From classic furnishings with neutral schemes to modern installations with wildly colourful accents, this year's Interior Design Show in Toronto was brimming with genius design and impeccable style. And we're keeping you in the know with a rundown of some of our favourite designs from IDS15!
Stone Forest:
You're looking at the irresistible curves of a bathtub made of marble, granite and bronze. Stone Forest takes its lead from nature's blueprint. Their contemporary designs for the bath and kitchen are sculpted from natural materials, making these bathtubs endlessly beautiful. Don't you just want to jump right in with a good book and stay for a while?
Coolican & Company:
Streamlined, durable and thoughtfully crafted. The Palmerston Stool is the new classic stool. Made of solid Black Walnut and harvested on the Niagara Escarpment, this stool boasts a classic turned leg and a faceted top for comfort. Coolican & Company is Toronto's first small batch furniture company, crafting each piece in a small, limited run. This means each piece is guarenteed to wear better and last longer. It's not fast furniture. It's furniture made well.
Tony Koukos Photography:
We love Tony Koukos Photography! His work conveys a message of history, character and natural beauty. Known for his stunning world travel photography, art and design, Tony has recently expanded his offering to include custom carpeting and digital vinyl wallcoverings. With a myriad of colourful styles to choose from, Tony's designs will help take your decor to the next level!
Alex Andrite Design:
Giving your cabinetry a facelift can be fun with changeable cabinet panels by Alex Andrite Design. Change out the panels as your taste or trends evolve using digitally printed artwork. Choose from a selection of approved designs or make it ‘you’ and speak to a representative to customize your panels!
Kinder GROUND:
Kinder GROUND is a modular rug company that encourages parents, design lovers, and kids of all ages to compose and curate super fun, colorful carpet for their family home. Featuring thirty-seven different styles of hexagons, triangles, and diamonds, KG carpets are sophisticated enough to live in any room of the house and constructed to create seamless pattern connections between rugs. Now that's good design!
Oeno Gallery:
Oeno Gallery put their best foot forward when designing their booth by featuring a large-scale acrylic painting by Montreal artist John Fox. The artist's choice of colour and collage arrangement is both muted and vibrant, and a definite dream piece for any art collector or enthusiast. For more works by John Fox and a vast collection of contemporary paintings, sculptures, glass and art objects, works on paper and historical art - be sure to visit Oeno Gallery in Bloomfield, Ontario.
Hive Tiles:
Stone artisan Giovanni Barbieri’s Hive Tiles are a feast for the eyes! Featuring deep relief patterns comprised of repeated hexagons, Giovanni’s Hive Tiles fit together to create a visually stunning display of endless geometry. Artemano:
Walking into Artemano’s dimly lit booth installation was like walking into the Orient. If you’re looking to add glamour and exotic appeal to your home, look to these gorgeous pendant lamps to do just that! The perforated metal will pour a warm, golden glow over your dining room table or throughout the hallways in your home.
Nomo Creations:
These charming snowflake clocks made of silver, brass and bronze are the latest products designed by Jamie Sajdak of Nomo Creations. We love how they look grouped together, but we’d happily settle for just one! Jamie’s talent doesn’t stop here; be sure to check out the Eclipse Side Table and the Orbitt Coffee Table that Jamie co-designed with his father, Eric.
MSDS-Studio:
Awarded Best Collection at IDS15, MSDS Studio showcased a cluster of white lights made from perforated cast aluminum and bent sheet steel. The display and featured pieces oozed Scandinavian-chic with a touch of 80’s edge. Design Milk describes the light collection as “decorative and emotive rather than utilitarian”, and we couldn’t agree more. Simply brilliant!
Sebastian Herkner:
Sebastian Herkner's Bell Table presented at IDS by Avenue Road is a striking piece of furniture available as a coffee table or side table. With a brass top that appears to float above a transparent tinted glass base, Sebastian's design recalls the elegant curved silhouette of a bell. Its sculptural presence and light-filtering design will make a stunning addition to your living space.
