The best gift I ever received...
Tommy Smythe:
The year after my father passed away my friends Claudia Dey and Don Kerr gave both my sister and me an iPod Nano containing all of his music. We had given Don - a famously accomplished musician - all of our father's stereo equipment and his entire CD collection (for the millennials out there: a CD was a little plastic donut that had music on it. Adults had them before there was iTunes). Transferring all that content must have taken ages. There is a lot of Christmas music on the iPod so whenever I play it during the holidays I am reminded of the kindness of my friends and my late father's love of music. The most thoughtful gift I've ever received.
Ellereigh Rogerson:
My Pyrrha necklace! It represents integrity and has a ‘creativity’ charm. I wear it every day because it's meaningful and beautiful.
Jennifer Gibeau:
There have been far too many “best gifts” over the years for me to choose just one. As a kid, my favourite gift was a toss up between the She-Ra Princess of Power Crystal Castle, the Strawberry Shortcake “Strawberryland” village (with fruit scented figurines), or all 5 New Kids on the Block Hasbro dolls complete with concert stage. Wait…maybe it was my Jem/Jerrica doll from Jem and the Holograms... But today – the gift I cherish most is the wooden bird ornament that my Dad carved for me a few years ago. It’s a reminder of his talent, his love and how lucky I am to have a father like him.
Lindsay Robinson:
The movie 'Married to the Mob', given to me by my father when I was 8 years old (to my mother's horror). Highly inappropriate for children, I loved it and proceeded to watch it almost every day for years!
Sarah Richardson:
My favourite gift was a Baby Dreams Doll sometime in the 1970’s - Santa delivered exactly what I asked for and I was so over the moon with happiness.
Natalie Hodgins:
A joint birthday/Christmas gift from my husband: a channel set Eternity Ring. It's just beautiful!
Tiffany Piotrowski:
For me, the best gifts will always be my health and my family, but I also love my Michael Kors watch from my boyfriend on our first Christmas together. He picked the exact style that I would have gotten myself, which really impressed me. It’s chunky and gold and just my style!
Kelsey MacDougall:
My favourite gift was a landscape painting by artist Jennifer Walden. The painting is a beautiful representation of a northern lake, a reminder of home.
Lindsay Mens Craig:
A 600-piece cutlery set of vintage gold bamboo cutlery. 600 pieces... you read it correctly! I'm not exactly sure what I'll do with all that cutlery, but they sure are pretty!
Shannon Morrison:
One year my Grandma gave me her Claddagh ring, similar in style to this one. It was one of the most sentimental gifts I have ever received. A traditional Irish ring which represents love, loyalty, and friendship.
